Getting your home ready to welcome your new arrival

So the news is out, the excitement about your pregnancy is growing, but reality and nerves may also be kicking in. As you start to relax and think about the amazing adventure you have ahead of you, apprehension about life with a new born might set in… ‘How do I prepare for this?!’ Worry not, because everyone has the exact same thoughts! It’s natural to feel a little bit stressed about making everything perfect for your little one, but don’t worry, you’ll find your stride in no time. To help calm those thoughts, we have created a few top tips to help you out before the stork flies in with your little bundle.

Installing baby's car seat

As it’s not the simplest task in the world, you need to check with someone that the car seat for your little one has been installed correctly. Either do it with a friend who’s done it before, or take your car in to a place that offers car seat installation checks. Also try and do this before your baby arrives so that you’ve got lots of time to practice.

Fridge frenzy

One aspect of adulthood is filling the fridge with whatever food we want when we’re feeling hungry. It goes without saying that you may need to rethink your eating and shopping habits and make room for your little one’s food. Not only will you need to make room, but it’s a good idea to clear out your fridge’s content, make sure you don’t have any expired foods and make sure it’s clean. Maybe even get a few meals prepped and popped in the freezer for when baby arrives, cooking for you will be your last priority – but you’re still important!

Examine your house

You might think that it will be months before your baby starts to crawl, but time will fly so much faster than you think – so think ahead and baby-proof before your little one’s arrival. Check your cabinets for any medication or cleaning products and make sure that they are securely out of reach. Examine your plugs or any electrical devices, and ensure that wires are moved out of your child’s way.

Get a new laundry basket for your dirty laundry

One of the things that few new parents are aware of before their baby arrives, is just how much laundry a little one can create. As you’ll be doing multiple washes (we guarantee you that), it’s a good idea to invest in a new hamper that fits more dirty laundry in. After you’ve purchased it, give the new baby clothes a quick wash, in a non-bio washing liquid, to make sure that their sensitive skin only comes in contact
